Feeling Overwhelmed and Stuck? How to Press Pause and Take Back Control of Your Life and Business This Holiday Season

Does this sound familiar?

You’re in overdrive making sure everything is perfect—planning meals, hosting family, running errands, and ticking off everyone else’s to-do lists. And while you’re busy with all of this, your business—the thing you say you want so much—keeps getting pushed to the back burner.

Sound familiar?

Here’s the truth: all the busyness isn’t just about the holidays. It’s a pattern. A cycle of doing, doing, doing for everyone else—until there’s nothing left for you or your goals. Been there done that.

And let’s be honest: part of you might even feel like someone else will come along and save you from this chaos someday. A magic moment where you suddenly have the clarity, time, or permission to focus on what you want.

But that’s not how it works.

If you want to create the business and life you truly want, you have to press pause. You have to pause the endless busyness, the hustle for everyone else, and the waiting. Because in that pause, you’ll find the clarity to reassess what really matters to you—and the power to finally decide.

Why You Need to Pause

Overwhelm isn’t just about how much you’re doing. It’s about why you’re doing it.

Are you busy because you feel like you “should”? Because it’s what’s expected of you? Or, you’re afraid to slow down and face the fact that what you really want—like building your business—feels out of reach? Or, maybe doing other things that are still keeping you productive but also you keep away from the bigger things due to the anxiety that comes along with it. I come from a camp of hard workers but we can often get ourselves in a trap of busy unproductiveness that isn’t at all helping you create the life you truly want?

Pausing gives you space to ask yourself these questions.

  • Where you’re overgiving to others and undergiving to yourself
  • Where you’re choosing comfort over commitment
  • What’s working in your life and business—and what isn’t

Most importantly, a pause gives you a chance to decide what’s actually important to you, so you can stop running on autopilot and start living intentionally and deliberately.

The Truth About Change

During the pause, one thing becomes clear: no one is coming to save you.

That doesn’t mean you have to figure it all out alone. But it does mean you have to take responsibility for what you want.

If you’re waiting for a perfect time to prioritize your business, it won’t come. If you’re hoping life will slow down so you can focus on yourself, it won’t happen on its own.

What will happen? You’ll continue to stay busy, feel stuck, and push your dreams further away.

It’s only when you pause, reassess, and commit to what you really want that things will change.

How to Take an Intentional Pause

Here’s how you can press pause this week—and use it to realign with what’s important to you:

1. Reflect on What You Want

Ask yourself:

  • What do I really want in life and in my business?
  • Am I committed to that vision, or am I letting other distractions take over, and if so, why?
  • What am I afraid of when it comes to fully showing up for myself and my goals?

2. Recognize the Patterns Keeping You Stuck

  • Are you overcommitting to things that don’t serve you?
  • Waiting for a “perfect time”?
  • Trying to avoid the discomfort by doing other chores and tasks that seem productive but move you away from the goals you really want? Awareness is the first step to change.

3. Decide and Commit

The pause is about making a choice. Once you see what’s not working, you have to decide:

Will I keep living like this, or will I commit to what I really want?

Once you are aware it’s no longer a pattern but a choice you are making. And, I can tell you from experience that the longer you keep making choices that go against the things you really want the harder it is to stop them. So, it’s up to you.

Commitment doesn’t mean you have to overhaul your life overnight. It just means you stop waiting and start intentionally moving toward your goals—even if it’s one small step at a time.  And, it’s not about adding more to your list and making you more overwhelmed — it’s about getting clear and making choices that will serve your future.

Pause, Decide, and Pivot

Pausing isn’t about stopping. It’s about shifting. It’s about taking a moment to breathe, reflect, and reassess where you’re headed.

This Thanksgiving, give yourself the gift of a pause. Not just to catch your breath, but to truly see where you’ve been holding yourself back. Use that moment to decide what you want—and commit to creating it, no matter what.

No one is coming to save you. But you can save yourself. And when you do, you’ll see that the life and business you want aren’t as far away as they seem.

You just have to pause, decide, and pivot.

Are you ready to make the change? Let’s do it together.  Wishing you a wonderful and magically holiday.
